SimGym is in the process of finalizing their iPhone fitness application and getting it approved for sale in the iTunes store. It should be available very soon. If you are interested in fitness and improving your overall productivity in the gym or home, I recommend trying this app. It will be available at a very reasonable price.

Here are a few highlights of what this app will offer:

iphone-simgym1. Percent of One Rep Max Calculation: Most people are aware of the term, 1 rep max. It is the maximum amount of weight you can lift for 1 repetition. This can easily be estimated using the standard formula found in our one rep max calculator.   However, to get the most of your workout, you should work in a range from 60 to 90% of your one rep max, depending on the type of muscle fibers you are targeting. This app will give you a constant reading of your estimated 1 rep max and also tell you the percentage of 1 rep max you are working out in based on the weight selected. This takes all the guess work out of it and gives you greater control over your workout, and ultimately, your results.

2. Value: This app will be very competitively priced in the early stages as we seek to improve the app over time based on user reviews and feedback.

3. Website Synchronization: This is the only fitness app available that will allow you to synchronize the data from your iPhone to the SimGym website and from the website to your iPhone.  This way, you will be able to perform your workout in the gym, home or wherever and then view your results, logs and charts of your progress on the SimGym website.  If you create a workout on the website, it will be ready to go on your iPhone the next time you sync.

4. Workout with Partner: If you have a buddy working out with you who doesn’t have the iPhone or iPod touch, you will also be able to add him or her to your iPhone and track their results.  There data will also be available on the SimGym website.

Stay tuned for more info regarding the launch of this app.

Can’t wait for this one. It sounds great with the website synchronization and all. What will be the price of this app?

Jim, I think this app will be available for $2.99, less than it costs for a value meal at a fast food restaurant and surely a lot healthier.
